Lambros Balafas stated on the show BIG 4 by Betsson that Benitez is set to scout the player. The club has been aware of Kontouris for some time, and he is also attracting interest from other major Greek clubs. This evaluation is so the manager can form his own complete opinion before the club potentially enters the final stages of an acquisition. According to Balafas, Panathinaikos has already declared its interest, is monitoring Kontouris, and is ready to discuss a potential transfer if Benitez gives his approval. Kontouris joined Panetolikos in August 2023 and has a contract until June 2027. His current market value is €200k, according to Transfermarkt. The Greece U21 international has made 5 appearances and scored 1 goal in the Super League 1 this season.
