Istra 1961 has signed the experienced Bosnian forward Smail Prevljak, who was previously with the German second division club Hertha last season. Prevljak has an impressive track record, having played for Belgian club Eupen and Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, where he secured four league titles and three cups. In addition, he has made 27 appearances for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, scoring six goals. Saša Bjelanović, the sports director of Istra 1961, commended Prevljak's qualities and team spirit, noting his role as a goal-scoring forward and his successful tenures in various leagues, especially in Belgium. Bjelanović pointed out Prevljak's effective teamwork and collective spirit, which align with the club's values. Prevljak last represented the national team in 2023, and his joining is regarded as a significant enhancement to Istra 1961's attacking capabilities.
