Cremonese has identified Italian central midfielder Simone Pontisso as a reinforcement for their midfield, as they might lose the experienced Norwegian Morten Thorsby, who could leave after the World Cup. Sporting director Christian Botturi explained in a press conference that while Thorsby is a Cremonese player, the club would evaluate potential exit opportunities for players of his profile, who have experience at a level above Serie B, also considering their motivation. According to information gathered by TMW's editorial staff, contacts are currently underway between the parties to try to find an agreement to bring the player, who was born in 1997, to Lombardy. Pontisso has one year remaining on his contract with the Giallorossi. He joined US Catanzaro in July 2022 and has a current market value of €1.20m according to Transfermarkt. Pontisso has been capped four times by Italy at the U20 level. Benevento and Hellas Verona have also been linked with the player.
