Slovenian top division club Celje has announced the acquisition of Croatian goalkeeper Simon Sluga. The 32-year-old has committed to the team with a contract extending until the conclusion of the 2026/27 season. Sluga conveyed his eagerness for a fresh challenge and his ambition to compete for the championship with Celje. He was drawn to the club's ambitions and their past European successes, which they are keen to replicate through this year's qualifications. Sluga's choice was swayed by the club's explicit communication of their lofty goals, which align with his personal career objectives. Prior to joining Celje, Sluga enjoyed a successful period in Bulgaria with Ludogorets, where he secured multiple titles, and more recently, he celebrated an Israeli championship with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
