Slovenian champion Celje is working to re-sign 26-year-old Slovenian winger Aljosa Matko from Újpest, aiming to strengthen their squad after advancing to the Champions League playoff round. It has been reported that initial negotiations between the two clubs have already occurred. Matko's contract contains a release clause of approximately €2 million, and it is considered unlikely that he would be sold for less than this amount. A transfer at this price would set a new record for the Slovenian league, surpassing the previous high of €1.2 million. In recent months, the player has also been linked with clubs in France and Germany. Matko joined the Hungarian club in July 2025 and has five caps for the Slovenian national team. His current market value is €1.70m, according to Transfermarkt.
