According to sportklub.si, Celje has sent a loan offer to Újpest FC for Aljosa Matko. Sportklub.si also reports that Aljosa Matko is open to a club change. However, Nemzeti Sport reports that Aljosa Matko is not for sale for less than two million euros and that Újpest FC is not willing to let him go on loan. According to Nemzeti Sport, Celje could have a chance for the transfer only if they make a purchase offer of around two million euros, a move that would likely require Celje to qualify for the Champions League group stage.

Celje has made an official loan offer to Újpest for the acquisition of Aljosa Matko. According to sportklub.si, the loan would be until the end of the season. Celje is eager to re-sign their former player, and an agreement with Matko is reportedly in place. Celje also remains interested in acquiring Aljosa Matko on a permanent basis, with Újpest seeking a transfer fee of 2 million euros for a permanent deal. However, this amount is not currently considered realistic, so Celje is initially pursuing a loan deal.

Slovenian champion Celje is working to re-sign 26-year-old Slovenian winger Aljosa Matko from Újpest, aiming to strengthen their squad after advancing to the Champions League playoff round. It has been reported that initial negotiations between the two clubs have already occurred. Matko's contract contains a release clause of approximately €2 million, and it is considered unlikely that he would be sold for less than this amount. A transfer at this price would set a new record for the Slovenian league, surpassing the previous high of €1.2 million. In recent months, the player has also been linked with clubs in France and Germany. Matko joined the Hungarian club in July 2025 and has five caps for the Slovenian national team. His current market value is €1.70m, according to Transfermarkt.
