D.C. United has announced the signing of Silvan Hefti from Amburgo, pending the release of a P-1 visa and an International Transfer Certificate. Hefti's contract runs until June 2027 and includes an option for an extension until the 2028 season.

Silvan Hefti has transferred to MLS club DC United and has signed a contract until 2027 with an option for an additional season. It is reported that the Hanseatic team is receiving a transfer fee of around 150,000 euros. Hefti had transferred from FC Genoa to Hamburg in the summer of 2024 for 1.5 million euros, and his contract would have been valid until 2028. HSV sports director Claus Costa says that due to the strong competition on the right-back position, Silvan found it difficult to accumulate playing minutes in the current season. Costa added that a transfer therefore is sensible for all parties. He also thanked Silvan for his efforts at HSV and especially for his contribution to the promotion to the Bundesliga.

It is reported that right-back Silvan Hefti, 28, is close to leaving Hamburger SV for DC United in the MLS this winter. The Swiss player has not had a role under coach Merlin Polzin this season, has not made a single appearance for the first team, and has played only once for the club's second team in the Regionalliga Nord. His contract runs until summer 2028. Hamburger Abendblatt reports that HSV will receive a small transfer fee, which will be used as a severance payment for Hefti to compensate for a lower salary in the USA. Hefti has 10 caps for the Switzerland U21 team and joined Hamburg in August 2024. His current market value is €700k, according to Transfermarkt.
