Shon Weissman Transfer from Granada to Fortuna Düsseldorf

Shon Weissman's transfer to Fortuna Düsseldorf has been canceled. The player's contract with FC Granada is set to expire in the coming summer. Weissman had already completed the medical examination according to 'Bild'. However, the transfer was called off due to intense protests from Fortuna Düsseldorf fans, who even started petitions to prevent the deal. The protests were in response to controversial statements made by the Israeli player about the Gaza Strip conflict, including a quote suggesting the erasure of Gaza.

Shon Weissman, a 29-year-old centre-forward with Israeli and Portuguese roots and a former national team player, is on the verge of joining Fortuna Düsseldorf. He is transferring from FC Granada, a Spanish club, where his contract was set to expire in June 2026. The transfer is seen as a notable development for Fortuna Düsseldorf, being their tenth signing in the transfer market. While not the widely anticipated Florian Neuhaus, Weissman has previously shown his skills at the Borussia Mönchengladbach stadium, indicating his potential to be a significant asset to Fortuna Düsseldorf's team. His most notable prior transfer was a €4.00m move to Real Valladolid in 2020, and his current market value is estimated at €1.20m by Transfermarkt.
