He previously played for Roda JC's first team, where he scored four goals and provided one assist during the last spring season. This transfer is part of Istra 1961's strategy to enhance their attacking lineup. Originally from Guinea, Bangura has gained youth experience from Sittard, Aachen, and Kaiserlautern before joining Roda JC's U21 team three years ago. His performance in the first team, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 37 appearances, drew the interest of Istra's sports director Saša Bjelanović and coach Goran Tomić. They have identified potential in his attacking capabilities, although they acknowledge the need for technical improvement.
