Sam Johnstone Transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Burnley
According to The Sun, Burnley is showing interest in acquiring Sam Johnstone as a replacement for James Trafford. The club is keen on securing Johnstone and intends to outbid Sunderland in the process. Wolves are reportedly willing to either loan out or sell the 32-year-old goalkeeper for a fee of £8 million. It is understood that Johnstone is aware of the limited opportunities at Molineux, with Jose Sa firmly established as the first-choice keeper. Should Johnstone join Burnley, he is expected to be prioritized over Max Weiss. The need for a new number one goalkeeper arises as Trafford is set to return to Manchester City in a £27 million deal. While Sunderland is also eyeing Johnstone, they have identified an alternative option in Dmytro Riznyk, valued at £12 million, from Shakhtar Donetsk. Johnstone, who featured in only seven Premier League matches for Wolves last season, has previously been affiliated with Manchester United and has had stints at Aston Villa, West Brom, and Crystal Palace.
