Sam Greenwood Transfer from Leeds United to Pogoń Szczecin
Fabrizio Romano reported that Pogoń Szczecin is set to acquire Sam Greenwood from Leeds United for a fee around four million euros, potentially setting a new transfer record for the Polish league. However, Daniel Trzepacz from Pogonsportnet.pl suggested that the actual fee will be much lower. Sam Greenwood is currently undergoing medical tests before joining Pogoń Szczecin, as reported by Szymon Janczyk from Weszlo.com, with the potential for record-breaking salary in Ekstraklasa.
Sam Greenwood, a 23-year-old English midfielder, is currently undergoing medical tests in Szczecin as Pogoń Szczecin plans to bring him on board with a three-year contract and an option for an additional year. Reports indicate that this contract could be the most lucrative in the history of the Polish Ekstraklasa. The transfer was made possible by Tan Kesler, the vice president and general manager of Pogoń, who personally traveled to the UK to persuade Greenwood to make the move. Greenwood has a history of 25 appearances in the Premier League with Leeds United and has also played on loan in the Championship for Middlesbrough and Preston North End, where he made 45 appearances last season, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists. With a market value estimated at 4.5 million euros, he is considered one of the most valuable players in Pogoń's history. His contract with Leeds United was to expire in June 2026.
