Genilson Rocha, president of Novorizontino, stated that it is highly probable that the club will pay the R$ 1 million amount to Palmeiras for Rômulo to play in the final of the Campeonato Paulista. Palmeiras owns the player's economic rights. By contract, Palmeiras requires Novorizontino to make the payment in advance to have Rômulo available for the final. Novorizontino chose not to use Rômulo in the first leg of the final, but intends to have him for the decisive match.

According to ESPN BR, a clause in Rômulo's loan from Palmeiras to Novorizontino stipulates a R$ 1 million fee for him to be fielded against Palmeiras in the Paulistão final matches. Novorizontino's management will meet with Palmeiras' president, Leila Pereira, to discuss potentially waiving this clause, and may pay the fee if Palmeiras' management declines. The report adds that in 2024, Palmeiras paid R$ 6.3 million for 70% of Rômulo's economic rights, while 30% remained with Novorizontino. Palmeiras also recently renewed Rômulo's loan to Novorizontino until the end of the season.
