After a match against Zbrojovka, Sigma's coach, Pavel Hapal, commented on the speculation. He praised Baráth, stating that the player is highly valued for being sufficiently aggressive and timely in duels, and that these are qualities other players lack. Initially, Hapal denied any contact, claiming that no one from Plzeň had asked him about the player and that he had not spoken with them. However, Hapal later admitted that he had telephoned Viktoria's coach, Radoslav Kováč, during the week to scold him for approaching their players. Hapal explained that it was a brief conversation because Kováč was busy preparing for a cup match in Jihlava. He also added that Kováč had promised to call back but had not yet done so.
