Club Brugge blocked the transfer of Romeo Vermant to Strasbourg, for which the French club offered a fixed amount of fifteen million euro. Het Laatste Nieuws reported that the total package could have reached nearly twenty million euro with bonuses. Vermant, who wants to play weekly, consciously decided to skip two group training sessions before the derby against Cercle in an attempt to force a departure. Several days after trying to force the move, Vermant was back in the squad and started the subsequent match.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Strasbourg was willing to offer a total package of approximately twenty million euros for Romeo Vermant using various constructions. Strasbourg's interest became increasingly concrete and the club was ultimately prepared to make a substantial effort. Even that amount was not enough for Club Brugge to agree to a departure. Romeo Vermant wanted to leave, and his frustration grew so much that he skipped two group trainings. HLN reports that Vermant wanted to leave to get more playing time elsewhere, but Club Brugge was largely unwilling to allow his departure. The Belgian newspaper also reports that Vermant has partially resigned himself to the decision.

Racing Club de Strasbourg made an offer of 15 million euros to Club Bruges for Romeo Vermant, but the proposal was rejected. The Belgian club is not in financial urgency after a significant outgoing transfer window. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Club Bruges refused the offer. Strasbourg has been following Romeo Vermant for several months and considers him a priority target to strengthen their attack and compensate for expected departures. Romeo Vermant currently has limited playing time behind Nicolò Tresoldi and wants to play regularly to continue his development. The transfer could remain under consideration until the end of the transfer window, but Club Bruges is reluctant to lose both Vermant and Tresoldi without replacements.

Various sources indicate that RC Strasbourg has a concrete interest in Romeo Vermant. It is reported that the French top-flight club made a bid of at least 15 million euros for Vermant to play in Ligue 1. Club Brugge is said to have firmly rejected the offer. According to Club Brugge, 15 million is an insufficient amount for the player.
