Sunderland are interested in Galatasaray's 28-year-old Hungarian right-back Roland Sallai, with Liverpool and Brentford also reportedly pursuing the player. Sunderland's interest has apparently increased as they look to sign Sallai, who has gained recognition from his performances in the UEFA Champions League. Manager Regis Le Bris is aware that the club will have to compete with economically powerful teams. LFC Transfer Room, citing @ASpor, also reports that Brentford has now begun pursuing the player and that Liverpool has been monitoring a potential transfer since January. Transfermarkt values Sallai at approximately €10M, and his contract runs until June 2028. Sallai, who has 64 caps and 15 goals for Hungary, joined Galatasaray in September 2024 from SC Freiburg for a reported €6 million. In the current 2025/2026 Süper Lig season, he has made 19 appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 4 assists. In February 2026, reports indicated a €10 million offer from the Premier League was rejected by Galatasaray.
