The transfer was completed for a fee of 22 million euros, including bonuses, following a year-long pursuit by Frankfurt, with Doan committing to a contract until June 30, 2030. The club's sporting director, Markus Krösche, was instrumental in securing the deal. Doan reportedly felt an increasing affinity for Frankfurt as negotiations advanced, and the consistent urging from his friend Mario Götze, who had been encouraging him to join Frankfurt for the last two years, also swayed his decision.
