As OL prepares for the next season, the club has sent scouts to Belgium to observe Saint-Trond's defensive midfielder Rihito Yamamoto. The 24-year-old Japanese Olympic international, who has been capped 18 times for his country's U23 side, arrived from Gamba Osaka in the summer of 2024 and has registered five goals and six assists in 28 league matches. Wolfsburg is also monitoring the player, and Yamamoto would prefer a transfer to the Bundesliga, a common destination for Japanese players over the last two decades. Transfermarkt estimates his value at 5 million euros.
