Raheem Sterling Transfer to Feyenoord

Feyenoord announced on their official website that Raheem Sterling has signed a contract this afternoon until the end of the season. The club revealed that Sterling, 31, would normally be considered unattainable, but his release for a free transfer last month allowed them to sign him after the transfer window had closed. Feyenoord also stated that Sterling was of interest to some major European clubs in recent weeks, but the decision to play in the Netherlands was largely due to coach Robin van Persie and the impression made in conversations with the coach and director Dennis te Kloese. On the website, Sterling stated that his free transfer situation gave him the opportunity to calmly reflect on the next step in his career. He said he took his time and spoke with several clubs and coaches to fully understand the role they envisioned for him. Sterling added that after long conversations with Dennis and Robin, he is convinced that Feyenoord is the place where he will be happy and a valuable member of the squad, describing playing abroad as a new challenge he is happy to accept. He also thanked Robin and Dennis for their patience and professionalism.
