Millwall's 20-year-old English-Ghanaian central midfielder Rafiq Lamptey wants to secure his first loan move and has joined League Two club Chesterfield on trial. Lamptey is with the Spireites for a trial period ahead of a potential temporary deal. Without naming the player, assistant manager Danny Webb stated that a trialist from a Championship side is seeking a loan and that the club and the player are evaluating each other. Lamptey, who made his senior debut last season, is not the only midfielder being assessed, as former Rotherham United player Josh Benson is also on trial. Lamptey's senior experience includes a 25-minute appearance in an FA Cup defeat against Burnley, during which he assisted a goal. A loan is seen as the ideal next step for his progression because of the competition for playing time at Millwall; his contract expires on June 30, 2026.
