According to Krone.at, Phillip Verhounig is looking for a new opportunity away from Red Bull Salzburg. Despite having a valid contract until 2027, Verhounig was not training with cooperation club Liefering at the start of preseason and was training individually in his home region of Carinthia. The club has since confirmed on request that Verhounig is keeping fit with the cooperation club but has no future at the club.

Phillip Verhounig signs his first professional contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg, moving from FC Liefering. The transfer is confirmed as he will join the Bundesliga team in the summer of 2025. Verhounig is considered one of Austria's greatest striker talents and is currently the top scorer in the UEFA Youth League with eight goals.
