Lecce, Frosinone and Birmingham City are interested in signing FC Basel player Philip Otele. Hamburg decided not to sign the Nigerian on a permanent basis. Basel are willing to sell him and are seeking €5m (£4.3m).

Nigerian winger Philip Otele, 27, is close to moving to Lecce from FC Basel, with direct talks expected this week to complete the transfer. The player, who has 5 caps for Nigeria, is under contract with the Swiss club until June 2028. His current market value is €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt. Hamburger SV was also recently linked with Otele but reportedly did not exercise a purchase option valued between €4.5 million and €5 million following his loan there. A report from May 2026 stated that Basel seeks to sell him for at least the €3 million they originally paid in July 2025.
