Ovidiu Popescu has signed with Poli Timișoara. According to Sport.ro, the club was promoted from the third to the second league at the end of the season. A communication from the club and Ovidiu Popescu's presentation remarks stated that the player declared he is happy to return home and that his personal objective is to achieve promotion to the first league with Poli Timișoara in his first year.

Ovidiu Popescu, a 32-year-old Romanian defensive midfielder, is no longer in Adrian Mihalcea's plans for the next season, so he will be free to look for another team. He has two caps for Romania. Popescu's contract with UTA Arad, which he joined in July 2025, is set to expire on June 30, 2027, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €600k.
