Octavian Popescu leaving FCSB?

Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB, had high hopes of selling Octavian Popescu for a significant amount of money, aiming for a record transfer fee of 50 million euros. However, Popescu's market value has significantly decreased from 4 million euros in December 2022 to 1.4 million euros. Ioan Becali, former agent, mentioned that it's impossible for Popescu to reach the expected levels and suggested selling him for 2-3 million euros with a 15-20% sell-on clause for future transfers.

FC Luzern from Switzerland is reportedly interested in making an official offer for Octavian Popescu, who is currently with the Romanian U21 national team at the European Championship. Despite a modest season marred by injury, Popescu remains attractive to foreign clubs. Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB, expressed that he was unaware of this specific interest but is open to negotiations if the financial offer meets his expectations. Becali stated that any player is for sale at the right price.

Octavian Popescu, a promising player from FCSB, is expected to secure a significant transfer in the summer. Despite recent injuries, there are ongoing discussions and negotiations about his transfer. Robert Vișan, a shareholder at Becali Sport, which represents Popescu, stated that the player could leave FCSB for a transfer fee of 7-8 million euros. The actual value is determined by the buyer, and there are no concrete offers before the transfer window.
