According to 'kicker', Borussia Dortmund rated Noah Atubolu, a 24-year-old German-Nigerian goalkeeper from SC Freiburg, highly as a potential replacement if Gregor Kobel were to depart. This possibility for Atubolu has closed because there are no indications of a transfer for Kobel. This was reportedly one of three conditional scenarios for the goalkeeper. AC Milan and Aston Villa were also considered strong candidates, but only in the event their respective number one keepers departed. Since all three clubs are retaining their starting goalkeepers, Atubolu is no longer being considered by them. Meanwhile, 'kicker' reports that Olympique Marseille had an initial, low offer rejected by Freiburg and is now preparing a new bid. Other interested parties include AFC Bournemouth and SSC Neapel, who have not yet submitted offers, and Juventus Turin. Freiburg is seeking a transfer fee between €15 and €20 million for Atubolu, who has one year remaining on his contract.
