Nikolas Polster, a 24-year-old Austrian goalkeeper, will travel to the Netherlands on Monday, August 10, for a medical examination with NEC. If he passes the medical, he is expected to sign a contract. Polster, who is uncapped by the Austrian national team, has decided to leave his current club, Wolfsberger AC, which he joined in July 2024 and where he had one year remaining on his contract. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is two million euros, but the actual transfer fee NEC will pay remains unclear. Several other clubs, including Celtic and Hertha BSC, had recently been linked with the goalkeeper. Reports in July 2026 detailed a negotiation in which Hertha BSC was willing to pay €500,000, while Wolfsberger AC demanded €1,000,000.
