The door to the German national team is not closed for Nicolo Tresoldi, but it is not wide open either. National coach Nagelsmann's October selection included Beier and Burkardt up front, while Woltemade was hindered by the flu. There is no untouchable target man in the squad, which is in need of players in good form. Tresoldi's profile is the type that the national coach could test quickly if qualification demands pragmatism.

The 21-year-old forward Nicolò Tresoldi was asked by Sky Sports Italia if he could imagine playing for Italy and national coach Gennaro Gattuso. Tresoldi replied: "The rules allow it, and my phone is on. If Gattuso wants to talk to me, I would be very happy. But at the moment I am playing for Germany, I have chosen that, even if it is only the U21. I feel very comfortable. In the future ... we will see." So he does not rule out a change of association. The German-Italian's contract at Club Brugge runs until June 30, 2029, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €9 million.
