Nicolás Benedetti Transfer from Mazatlán to Las Palmas
UD Las Palmas is considering the winter transfer market to find a replacement for Recoba, who is unavailable due to a long-term injury. The Colombian press reports that the club's Sporting Directorate has identified 28-year-old Colombian offensive midfielder Nicolás Benedetti as a candidate. The player has decided against renewing his contract with Mazatlán FC. His contract expires on December 31, which would allow him to join Las Palmas on a free transfer. Sevilla pursued Benedetti last season. While various reports had linked him with a return to Colombian football, the interest from the Spanish club has led him to reconsider. Luis García, the manager for Las Palmas, acknowledged a December signing is possible, indicating that he is in regular communication with the club's management and that they will assess their options when the transfer window opens. The player, who has one cap for Colombia, has made 15 appearances in the current Liga MX Apertura season, where he has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.50m.
