Intermediaries have discussed the availability of Roma's 24-year-old Moroccan and French midfielder, Neil El Aynaoui, with Newcastle United. TEAMtalk reports that a number of other Premier League clubs have also been contacted, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Brighton. The interest from England and other locations follows the player's performances for Morocco at the World Cup, and it is understood that Barcelona and Real Madrid also made enquiries earlier in the year. El Aynaoui joined Roma from Lens last summer and has a contract that runs until 2030. Although he featured in over 30 matches, his starting opportunities were more limited than expected. Those representing the player believe a transfer is possible this summer if Roma receives an appropriate proposal. It is also expected that growing interest will challenge the club's position on the player. Former Marseille sporting director Mehdi Benatia stated to La Gazzetta dello Sport that he had previously attempted to sign the midfielder but the player's cost was too high, and he also questioned why El Aynaoui had not played more at Roma.
