Marseille had reached an agreement several times this winter with clubs, including Italian sides Pise and Cremonese, for the transfer of 29-year-old French-Argentine forward Neal Maupay. The forward rejected these opportunities and had also rejected approaches from clubs in Spain, Turkey, and Belgium the previous summer. Maupay, who joined Marseille permanently in July 2025 and has a contract until June 2028, has made one appearance in Ligue 1 this season. His current market value is €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
