Charlton Athletic have signed Nathaniel Chalobah on a one-year contract. Chalobah had been on trial with the Addicks, making an appearance in a 2-0 friendly win at Colchester United and also playing in the second half of a 3-0 loss to Reading. During this period, he was listed as a ‘trialist’ on teamsheets and was not named by Charlton TV in their match commentaries. Chalobah is the club's sixth signing of the summer transfer window. Charlton manager Nathan Jones told the club's website they are pleased to add Nathaniel, who has been with them for a few weeks. Jones said the player demonstrated a strong desire to come to the club, has extensive experience at Championship level and higher, and possesses a very high pedigree. The manager added that they aim to evolve and Chalobah provides quality, technical ability, and experience that will benefit the team and many of their younger players.
