Miguel Rubio has permanently transferred from Espanyol to Valladolid. Valladolid and Espanyol have reached an agreement for the transfer which includes several performance-related bonuses and a percentage on any future resale. Miguel Rubio has signed a four-year contract with Valladolid, and will remain with the club until June 30, 2030. The transfer was officially communicated by both Valladolid and Espanyol.

According to Radio Marca Valladolid, central defender Miguel Rubio, who is not part of Manolo's plans, is nearing a departure to sign for Valladolid. The same source stated that the agreement between the clubs is complete, with only minor details to be finalized, and that the move would be a transfer in exchange for future variables, with no initial price specified, instead of a loan. Miguel Rubio previously played for Valladolid between 2020 and 2021.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Miguel Rubio could potentially be transferred to Real Valladolid. The 28-year-old Spanish central defender, who is not part of Espanyol's plans and has not played during the pre-season, could leave the club imminently. Real Valladolid is making efforts to sign the defender, with a departure possible this week as Espanyol seeks to create space in their squad. Rubio previously played for Valladolid from 2019 to 2021, and the club is confident about securing his signing as the player wishes to return. Espanyol would view a loan move for Rubio to Zorrilla favorably. Rubio joined Espanyol in July 2025 and has a contract until 2028. His market value is €1.50m, according to Transfermarkt. Other clubs, including Castellón and Real Oviedo, have also been linked with him.
