Miguel Merentiel Transfer from Boca Juniors to Monterrey
Monterrey and América are both interested in signing 29-year-old Uruguayan centre-forward Miguel Merentiel for 2026. Although no formal offers have yet been submitted, Boca is aware of the situation. It is believed that proposals might be made in the coming days, though both interested clubs currently have issues with their foreign player quotas. Merentiel has two years left on his contract with an $18 million release clause. While Boca's stance has previously been that he would only be sold for that amount, the club is open to negotiations and would seriously consider an offer close to that value, because they consider every player except Leandro Paredes to be transferable. From Merentiel's representatives, it has been indicated that the player is seeking an economic boost and desires a salary improvement, even though his intention is to remain at Boca. Merentiel has one cap for Uruguay. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €6.50m.
