Memphis Depay Transfer from Corinthians to Santos Laguna
According to RTI Esporte, Dutch international Memphis Depay has rejected an offer from Santos Laguna in Mexico. The club viewed the 31-year-old striker as its dream candidate in its search for a big-name signing for the upcoming season. The Mexican side offered an €8.4 million signing bonus and has reportedly created salary space to pay a monthly wage of almost eight hundred thousand euros. However, Depay was not interested, as he only wants to leave Corinthians for a European club, partly to be in top form for next summer's World Cup. RTI Esporte reports that his current monthly salary at Corinthians is just over six hundred thousand euros, excluding bonuses. Santos Laguna was only willing to sign Depay on a free transfer and was not prepared to negotiate with his current club. The relationship between the two clubs is strained, as Santos Laguna has filed a complaint with FIFA over an outstanding debt of more than five million euros from the early 2024 transfer of Félix Torres to Corinthians. Depay's contract in Brazil runs until the end of 2026. The player has a current market value of €9.00m, according to Transfermarkt, and has also been linked with clubs including Real Oviedo, Pachuca, Beşiktaş, and PSV.
