Genoa is considering RB Salzburg's Maurits Kjaergaard as an alternative option for their midfield. The Danish midfielder, born in 2003, has also attracted interest from Serie A clubs Sassuolo and Udinese. Kjaergaard, who joined the Austrian club in July 2019, has a contract that runs until June 2028 and has not been capped by the senior Denmark national team. In the 2025/2026 season, he made 20 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 2 goals and providing 6 assists. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €8 million. Reports from January 2026 stated that Red Bull Salzburg valued the midfielder at approximately €20 million, and an earlier report from August 2025 mentioned a demand of €15 million.
