Matvey Safonov Transfer from Paris Saint Germain to Spartak Moskva

When asked if he is ready to return to the Russian Premier League if Spartak makes an offer, Matvey Safonov replied that he would not like to. As transmitted by Dmitry Zimin, Safonov explained that he left for challenges and discomfort, and it would be strange to leave those challenges. However, he also said any offer needs to be considered and he would need to see how interested the club is.

Spartak Moscow has shown interest in Matvey Safonov, who is reportedly open to returning to Russia. Football24.ru reported that Spartak Moscow is eager to bring Safonov back to his homeland, and the player is considering this possibility. This interest arises amid uncertainty surrounding Safonov's future at Paris Saint-Germain, where he serves as a backup goalkeeper. Although he participated in 17 matches last season, Safonov's future with PSG remains uncertain, especially following the arrival of Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi. The potential transfer to Spartak Moscow is further complicated by the unresolved situation of Gianluigi Donnarumma at PSG, which puts Safonov's position in a state of uncertainty. Nevertheless, with Russia not participating in the 2026 World Cup, Safonov does not feel immediate pressure to secure regular playing time at a new club.
