Matthis Abline Transfer from Nantes to Olympique Marseille

L'Équipe reports on Marseille's efforts to sign striker Matthis Abline. In May, Marseille launched an operation to attract the representatives of the striker, spoke negatively about the Kita family, and offered high remunerations to the player. The club then approached Nantes having decided that Abline was worth 15 million euros. In response, Franck Kita did not set a sale price and made no counter-offer to Marseille.

At the beginning of the transfer window, Marseille submitted a €15M bid for 22-year-old French forward Matthis Abline, but Nantes rejected the proposal as insufficient. The player himself was not particularly interested in a move outside of France, where Sunderland and Wolverhampton had registered interest, as he was anticipating a happy personal event. After another player was sold, Nantes' general manager Franck Kita established an exceptional €40M asking price for Abline. A subsequent €25M bid from Paris FC in early August was also turned down as Nantes remained firm on their valuation, and a transfer did not materialize. Abline's current contract with Nantes runs until June 30, 2028, and his Transfermarkt valuation is €18M.
