According to Brazilian journalist Wilson Pimentel on RTI Esporte, Coventry City have made an official offer to sign Matheus Martins and have opened negotiations with Botafogo to complete the deal during this transfer window. The offer was received by the Botafogo board and is being analysed by the player’s representatives. Botafogo has set a minimum price of 8 million euros (£6.9m) for Matheus Martins and does not intend to facilitate his departure, as the club considers him an important part of the squad.

The English club Coventry City made an offer to Martins, which his representatives are evaluating.

Coventry City is monitoring the situation of Matheus Martins. GE Globo reports that Martins can leave Botafogo due to financial problems and that the club hopes for a transfer. The player may leave for approximately eight million euros. Martins recently had a conversation with the club management to discuss his future and indicated a desire for a new opportunity in Europe. If a transfer is made, Botafogo will receive only a small part of the transfer fee due to an outstanding debt of six million euros with Udinese. The Serie A club has already presented the issue to FIFA.

Botafogo is open to selling 22-year-old Brazilian winger Matheus Martins, with Coventry City, Krasnodar, Feyenoord, and Celta de Vigo showing interest. The club is willing to sell Martins for €8 million to generate funds amid a financial crisis and an outstanding €6 million debt to Udinese from his original transfer. Martins has 10 caps for Brazil's U20 team, is contracted until December 2028, and previously moved from Fluminense to Udinese in January 2023.
