Globo.com reported that Al-Ahli decided not to negotiate for Matheus Gonçalves in this transfer window and rejected proposals from Vasco that were presented by the player's agents.

Vasco da Gama has consistently held an interest in Matheus Gonçalves, a 21-year-old Brazilian winger whose playing style is more focused on creation, although any potential loan negotiation is considered to be difficult. Gonçalves plays for Al-Ahli SFC, which he joined in September 2025, and his contract is valid until June 2027. He has been capped once for the Brazil U20 team and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €9.00m.
