Olimpia, the club Mateo Gamarra departed from in 2023, was among the clubs that made an inquiry for the defender, who is currently at Cruzeiro on loan from Athletico. The Brazilian club Vitória also probed the player's situation. However, neither of the inquiries from these clubs evolved into a formal proposal. Cruzeiro was reportedly open to the Paraguayan's departure mid-year and would not have complicated a move had an offer been submitted. The transfer windows in both Brazil and Paraguay are now closed.
