FC Köln as a potential new experienced number two goalkeeper, while the club plans to develop Jonas Urbig as the future number one for when Manuel Neuer retires. According to the 'Bild'-Podcast 'Bayern Insider', concerns among the Bayern management were too significant, making any concrete efforts to sign Schwäbe very unlikely. The hesitation is reportedly due to potential tensions between the two goalkeepers, as Schwäbe had previously replaced Urbig as the number one at Köln earlier in the 2024/25 season. A former Germany U21 international, Schwäbe joined Köln in July 2021 and has a contract that runs until June 2027. He has made 28 appearances in the Bundesliga this season and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €3.00m.
