In the last transfer window, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Olympiacos, Besiktas, and Al-Shabab were among several clubs that formally approached Fluminense for the 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder, Matheus Martinelli. Fluminense rejected all the proposals. These proposals were made before Martinelli's recent call-up to the Brazil squad, and the club rejected them because it believed his value would increase with international recognition. The highest offer received from any of the interested clubs was €14m (£12.1m), and the identity of the club that submitted this bid was not specified. Fluminense currently considers the player not for sale but expects his new international status will result in much higher bids in the next window.
