Mario Šitum Transfer from Catanzaro to Lokomotiva Zagreb
Sportske Novosti reported that Mario Šitum has returned to Lokomotiva after his stint with Catanzaro. The 33-year-old footballer returned to his native country to join Lokomotiva following the expiration of his contract with the Italian Serie B team Catanzaro at the end of June. Although Catanzaro offered him a contract extension, Šitum turned it down due to less favorable financial terms and personal reasons, particularly because his family lives in Zagreb. He completed medical examinations in Zagreb and is expected to sign a contract with Lokomotiva by the end of the week. The decision was reportedly influenced by his emotional ties to the club and the chance to balance his personal life with his football career. It is anticipated that he will sign a one-year contract, with negotiations described as quick and straightforward.
Mario Šitum's contract with Catanzaro expires on June 30. Initial contacts have been made with Lokomotiva, and he has other offers on the table. The 33-year-old, who is a former Dinamo player capable of playing as a winger, defender, or forward, is currently on vacation. It will be known in a few days whether he will continue his career at Lokomotiva's Kajzerica stadium. Transfermarkt currently estimates his market worth at 300k euros.
