Marco Richter Transfer from FSV Mainz 05 to Darmstadt 98
Sportske Novosti reported on the transfer of Marco Richter to Darmstadt on loan from Hajduk. Although Richter was a major target for Hajduk, he has been unveiled as a new player for Darmstadt, where he will spend the upcoming season on loan. The club's sporting director, Paul Fernie, expressed his satisfaction with the successful finalization of the deal before the first match of the season and conveyed his anticipation of collaborating with Marco in the future. Richter mentioned that he had positive discussions with Paul Fernie and Florian Kohfeldt, during which they outlined a concrete plan that matches his style of play. He is already familiar with some of the players and has heard only positive feedback about the club.
Darmstadt has shown interest in acquiring Richter and is seen as a serious contender for his transfer. The club is in search of a versatile offensive player, and sources close to the editorial team have confirmed that Richter aligns with their needs. Darmstadt is reportedly looking for someone to fill the position between midfield and attack, a role previously occupied by Philipp Förster or Tobias Kempe, who has recently retired. Despite recent signings of forward Bartosz Bialek and midfielder Hiroki Akiyama, Darmstadt is eager to add Richter to their squad for additional strength. Mainz coach Bo Henriksen reportedly does not have plans for Richter, as indicated by his absence in all four pre-season games, suggesting Mainz is open to his departure. The interest from Darmstadt is further supported by the fact that Richter's name has been mentioned among the club's fan circles for a considerable time.
