Mahdi Camara Transfer from Brest to Rennes
Mahdi Camara, previously linked to Nice, has chosen to join Rennes. He was officially signed on Wednesday. The decision was influenced by the financial offer from Rennes, which was significantly higher than what Nice proposed. Rennes offered 13 million euros over four years, including a 250,000 euros monthly salary and a 1 million euro signing bonus. In contrast, Nice's offer was 7.2 million euros over four years with a 150,000 euros monthly salary.
Initially close to signing with Nice on a 4-year contract, Mahdi Camara changed his decision within hours, opting for Rennes due to their ambitious project and discussions with Habib Beye. Rennes and Brest agreed on a transfer fee of 8 million euros. Camara has arrived in Rennes for his medical examination.
Mahdi Camara, who was initially set to leave Brest for Nice, has now opted to join Rennes. The 27-year-old French-Gambian midfielder, with a record of 34 matches and 5 goals in Ligue 1 for the 2024-2025 season, was persuaded by Rennes' coach Habib Beye to sign a four-year contract with the club. The two clubs are anticipated to finalize a transfer fee of approximately 8 million euros, nearly matching the player's €9 million market value as assessed by Transfermarkt. This development represents a setback for Nice, particularly after their recent defeat to Benfica in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
