The coach may still be able to count on Brughmans this season, as he may remain at Genk for another year, similar to Mike Penders and Maarten Vandevoordt. However, according to Het Belang van Limburg and Het Laatste Nieuws, it cannot be ruled out that Brughmans will make an immediate move to Anfield. Genk would not be willing to consider an arrangement in which he would remain on loan until the New Year.

According to Voetbalnieuws.be, 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans has extended his contract at KRC Genk until mid-2030. It is stated that a transfer for Lucca Brughmans in the short term is not being considered. KRC Genk intends for him to remain with the club for a period before a transfer is considered. Brughmans had 32 appearances in the Challenger Pro League for the 2025/2026 season and has 2 caps for the Belgium U19 team. His current market value is €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt. Several clubs, including FC Bayern München and Real Madrid, have been recently associated with the player.
