L'Equipe reports that Saudi side Al-Hilal made an approach to Saint-Etienne for 20-year-old Belgian striker Lucas Stassin in their search for a young player. However, the potential transfer did not go through, as Al-Hilal quickly pulled out of the discussions citing the complexity of the deal. Saint-Etienne's valuation was viewed as too high, and negotiations with Stassin's representatives also presented difficulties. The Ligue 2 team had previously shown its firm negotiating position by turning down an offer from Paris FC that was over 20 million euros. The forward is now expected to continue at Saint-Etienne at least until the January transfer window. Stassin, whose contract is valid until June 2028, has a Transfermarkt-estimated market value of €18.00m, and has also been connected to other clubs such as CSKA Moskva, Rennes, and Brentford.
