Shakhtar Donetsk officially announced the signing of Brazilian forward Luca Meirelles from Santos. Santos received 12 million euros for the transfer of Meirelles.

Luka Meirelles became the fourth player from Santos to join Shakhtar and the most expensive player from this club in Shakhtar's history.

Luca Meirelles, an 18-year-old forward from Santos, is close to completing a transfer to Shakhtar. He is currently with Shakhtar's team in Switzerland, preparing for a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying match against Servette. Meirelles is expected to meet with Shakhtar's management and sign a 5-year contract. Santos will receive 10 million euros and retain 15% of the player's economic rights, although there were previous reports of a 12 million euro agreement.

Brazilian club Santos has accepted Shakhtar's offer to buy their 18-year-old center forward, Luca Meirelles. Shakhtar is ready to pay 12 million euros for Meirelles, which satisfies Santos. Journalist Fabio Sormani reports that Santos owns only 70% of the economic rights to the forward, thus will receive 8.4 million euros from the transfer. Santos wants to keep a percentage of Meirelles' resale, while Shakhtar proposes a percentage of the profit from a future potential resale. Meirelles is a product of Santos' academy and is under contract with them until summer 2027.
