Aberdeen are close to completing a £300,000 deal for Livingston winger Lewis Smith after having a bid accepted. The 26-year-old Scottish player has been given permission to travel north and is expected to sign a long-term contract at Pittodrie. Progress on the move was made quickly over the weekend, causing Smith to miss Scott Pittman’s testimonial match against Hearts on Friday. The transfer is expected to be completed so that Smith could potentially make his debut in Aberdeen’s Premier Sports Cup match on Tuesday night. Manager Stephen Robinson had previously stated his team was close to signing one of two wingers they wanted, with Smith being that target. The club had been pursuing Smith for several weeks, having multiple earlier bids, along with offers from Kilmarnock, turned down. Aberdeen increased their offer after the sale of Topi Keskinen to Odense for more than £1 million. Smith is expected to become Robinson's tenth signing of the summer, and the manager believes he will add skill to the team's attack and valuable Scottish experience to the team. In addition to the interest from Kilmarnock, Hibernian had also been linked with the former Scotland U21 international, whose current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €500k.
