According to Alan Nixon via Patreon, Hull City are preparing a new attempt to sign Wrexham's 27-year-old English midfielder, Lewis O'Brien. The player has had an impressive first season with the club since he joined in July 2025. O'Brien has two years left on his contract. Hull had previously targeted him on multiple occasions, including last summer while he was at Nottingham Forest and again in late 2024 during a loan spell at LAFC. It was also reported that Birmingham City and Southampton were interested in the midfielder last summer. A previous attempt by Hull was affected by transfer restrictions, which are scheduled to be lifted when the summer window reopens. The club will reportedly pursue O'Brien regardless of whether they secure promotion. Despite being part of a potential £5m deal, the midfielder's playing minutes were reduced towards the end of the season, as he played only 67 minutes in the last four league games. The player has a current market value of €6.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
