Ayr United announced they have signed 22-year-old former Rangers defender Leon King on a two-year deal until June 2028, subject to SFA approval. King spent last season on loan at Ayr United from Rangers, making over 30 appearances. Ayr United stated that King impressed during his loan spell and won end-of-season awards for Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

It has been claimed that Ayr United have offered a permanent contract to Leon King, who impressed on loan at the club after having fewer first-team opportunities with Rangers.

TEAMtalk has revealed that Wolves and Burnley have carried out extensive checks on the defender, while it is also understood that Coventry City, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Portsmouth are also interested. A significant factor in the interest is the potential fee, as TEAMtalk understands a cross-border move for the under-23 player would only require minimum compensation.
