Colchester United have signed 20-year-old striker Leon Chiwome on a season-long loan from Wolves. The forward, who was described by former Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs as being tall, quick, and athletic, was part of AFC Wimbledon's academy before moving to Wolves in the summer of 2022. Chiwome has since made four senior appearances for the Championship club, including three in the Premier League during a 2023/24 season that ended early for him due to an injury. This is the Brighton-born player's first loan away from the club, and he is expected to feature in Colchester’s friendly at Stevenage. The English and Zimbabwean national's contract at Wolves runs until June 30, 2028, and he has two caps and one goal for England's U18 team. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is rated at €500k.
